What you will learn
Medical Radiation Technology is a comprehensive program that prepares you for a rewarding career in the healthcare sector. You will learn to operate advanced imaging equipment, including X-ray, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and nuclear medicine systems. The curriculum covers radiation physics, anatomy, patient care, and radiation protection.
You will develop essential skills in patient communication, medical ethics, and professional conduct. The program emphasizes safety and precision, ensuring you can provide high-quality care to patients undergoing diagnostic procedures. You will also learn to manage medical records and use practice management software.
How the program runs
The program is delivered full-time over three years, comprising six terms. Classes begin in September each year. You will study at the Benchlands Campus, where you will have access to state-of-the-art labs and the simulation centre in Corvid Hall.
In addition to classroom instruction, you will participate in clinical placements at local hospitals and imaging centres. These placements provide hands-on experience under the supervision of experienced technologists. You will also have access to the Falls Library & Learning Commons for study and research.
Admission
To be eligible for admission, you must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. You must have completed Grade 12 English, Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics, all at the College Preparation (C) or University Preparation (U) level, with a minimum grade of 60%. You may also be required to provide proof of immunization and a criminal record check.
Tuition and fees
2024–25 tuition: $3,990 per year (domestic). Ancillary fees are separate. For more information about fees and payment options, see Tuition and fees.
After you graduate
Graduates of the Medical Radiation Technology program are qualified to work as medical radiation technologists in hospitals, clinics, and private imaging centres. Common job titles include CT technologist, MRI technologist, and nuclear medicine technologist. You can register with the provincial regulatory body to practice in Ontario.
