Program Description

Practices structuring and drafting comprehensive technical reports, proposals, and documentation for engineering fields.

About this course

This course focuses on the practical skills needed to write clear, accurate, and professional technical documents. You will learn how to structure complex information for different audiences, particularly in engineering and applied technology contexts. The course builds on the foundations of technical communication covered in COMM 1580 Technical Communication Foundations, moving from basic drafting to more complex documentation requirements.

You will practice writing various types of documents, including process descriptions, investigation reports, and formal proposals. Emphasis is placed on clarity, precision, and the effective integration of visual data such as graphs and tables. You will also develop skills in revising and editing your own work and the work of others through structured peer review sessions.
