Manual and computer-aided drafting techniques for creating precise technical drawings and engineering schematics.
Course overview
This course introduces the principles of technical drawing, both by hand and through computer-aided design (CAD). You will learn how to create clear, precise, and standardized engineering schematics. The course covers essential skills such as orthographic projection, dimensioning, line weights, and scale. You will also gain practical experience with the software tools used by civil engineering technology professionals.
Through a mix of in-class exercises and lab work, you will develop the ability to read and create technical drawings. You will work on projects that simulate real-world tasks, such as preparing site plans and structural details. The course is delivered in the Civil Engineering & Geomatics department labs.
