Architectural & Building Technology
The Architectural & Building Technology department offers programs in architectural technology, building science, interior design, and construction management.
About the department
Welcome to the Architectural & Building Technology department at Wrenford Polytechnic. You will learn how to design, plan, and oversee construction projects from the ground up. Our courses cover building codes, structural systems, materials, and project management. You will work with industry-standard software and complete hands-on projects that prepare you for a career in the built environment.
The department is led by Chair Stefan Kowalczyk. You can reach the department office for program questions, course registration, or academic advice.
Programs
The department offers four programs that cover architectural technology, building science, interior design, and construction management. All programs are delivered at the Benchlands Campus.
- Architectural Technology — an advanced diploma with a co-op work term.
- Bachelor of Applied Technology — Building Science — a four-year applied degree with a co-op placement.
- Interior Design Technology — a diploma focused on sustainable interior spaces.
- Construction Management — an advanced diploma with full-time and part-time options.
Facilities
Classes and labs are located in the Kingfisher Building on the Benchlands Campus. You will use computer labs equipped with drafting and modelling software, as well as a dedicated materials testing lab where you examine the strength and durability of construction products. The department also maintains a model-making workshop for physical prototypes.
