Courses

What you will learn

You will study how companies identify customer needs, develop products, and communicate their value to specific audiences. The curriculum covers the full marketing mix, from pricing and distribution strategies to advertising, public relations, and brand management. You will work on real-world projects that require you to analyse consumer data, create promotional campaigns, and present strategies to a client or panel. These assignments mimic the workflow of a professional marketing team, so you will learn how to collaborate, meet deadlines, and adapt to feedback.

Because the program is based at the Mercer Street Campus, you will use the Digital Media & Design studios and the Market Square Studios sound stage to produce video content, podcasts, and digital assets. You will also take technical mathematics and visual literacy courses to ensure you can interpret complex data sets and design clear, professional materials that follow industry standards.

How the program runs

This full-time diploma takes two years to complete and is divided into four terms. Classes are held at the Mercer Street Campus, located at 240 Mercer Street in downtown Wrenford. The program accepts new students each September and January, giving you two opportunities to start your studies each year. The downtown location puts you within walking distance of transit stops and municipal parking lots, making it easy to commute from across the city.

Each term, you will take a mix of core marketing and public relations courses alongside general education requirements. The schedule is designed to give you a steady workload while allowing time for independent project work. There is no co-op work term built into this program, but you are encouraged to use the College's career services to find part-time work or volunteer opportunities that complement your studies.

Admission

To be considered for admission, you must submit an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or an equivalent secondary school leaving certificate. International students must provide proof of English language proficiency through an accepted test or by completing equivalent study at an accredited institution. Mature students who are 19 or older by the start of classes are also eligible to apply and will be assessed based on their overall academic record and motivation.

There is no application fee to submit an application to Wrenford Polytechnic. You can apply through the provincial college application service for full-time study, or register directly through Continuing Education if you prefer a part-time path later on. If you are missing a specific prerequisite, you may be able to complete it through the College's Adult Basic Education program or a local community college.

Tuition and fees

2024–25 tuition: $3,390 per year (domestic). Ancillary fees are $1,125 per year and cover campus services such as the gym, tutoring, and the student association. You can pay your fees in full at the start of each term, or request a monthly payment plan through Student Financial Aid. If you qualify for Ontario student financial assistance, you can apply for grants and loans to help cover your tuition and living costs. International students should check the International Students page for specific payment deadlines and accepted currency options.

After you graduate

Graduates of this program are prepared to enter the workforce in roles that require strong communication, data analysis, and creative problem-solving skills. You will have a portfolio of completed campaigns and research reports to show employers. Many graduates go on to work with local marketing agencies, corporate communications departments, or non-profit organisations. You may also choose to transfer your credits toward a Bachelor of Applied Business degree through the provincial college application service.
