Find a co-op job

Wrenford Polytechnic connects you with employers for your work terms. Co-op programs include three paid work terms, or one 14-week placement for applied bachelor's degrees. You will apply for jobs, interview with employers, and work full-time in your field. There is no extra fee to participate in a co-op work term. Your tuition covers all coordination and workshop support.

Who is eligible

You must be enrolled in a program that includes co-op. Your program page will list your work term schedule. You need to meet your program's academic standing requirements and complete any required safety training before you can work. If you are in a skilled trades program, you must be at least 16 years old to enter the shops, and you must have your signed consent form if you are under 18. Contact the Co-op & Career Services office to confirm your eligibility and get your work term documents ready.

How to find a job

Employers post openings through the college's student portal. You will create a profile, upload your resume, and apply directly to postings that match your program. You can also search the job board by employer, location, or shift. The college does not charge you to apply. You are responsible for meeting each employer's deadline and following their application instructions.

Prepare your resume is a required step. Bring a draft to a career advisor for feedback before you submit applications. You can book an appointment online or in person at the Co-op & Career Services office in the Student Union Building, Benchlands Campus. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call 519-555-0183 for questions.

Job search tools and events

Employers visit campus for hiring events each term. You can attend a job fair to meet recruiters face-to-face, drop off your resume, and learn about available positions. The college also runs on-campus interviews and skills workshops. Check the events calendar and your student portal for dates and locations.

Learn how co-op works to understand your work term expectations, pay rates, and academic requirements. Employers follow the province's apprenticeship rules and workplace safety standards. You will sign an employment contract before your first day. Review your contract carefully to confirm your duties, schedule, and pay. If you have questions about your placement, contact your co-op coordinator or report a work issue through the portal.

Support and next steps

Your co-op experience is part of your education. You will complete learning goals, keep a work log, and submit a final report. The college grades your work term and adds it to your academic record. If you need a workplace accommodation, contact Accessibility Services early in your search. You can also visit the Co-op & Career Services page for more details on work term rules and employer partnerships.

Start your search early. Most employers hire students several months before a work term begins. Prepare your resume, attend a job fair, and meet with a career advisor. You will build the skills you need to succeed in your field and turn your work term into a full-time job after graduation.
