What is the tripartite agreement?
Before you start your work term, you, your employer, and Wrenford Polytechnic must all agree on the details of your placement. This is called the tripartite agreement. It covers your role, your hours, your pay, and the learning goals for the term. The college uses it to make sure the placement meets program standards and keeps you covered under the college's insurance policy. You cannot begin your placement without a signed copy.
Who needs to sign?
Every student in a co-op program must complete this step. If you are in a program with three paid work terms, you will sign a new agreement for each term. Students in the applied bachelor's degrees will sign one agreement for their 14-week placement. Even if you already have a job offer, you must go through this official college process to ensure your duties match your program requirements.
How to review and sign
Reviewing and digitally signing the tripartite agreement between student, employer, and the college is a required step in the student portal. Follow these steps:
- Log in to myWrenford and navigate to the Co-op & Career Services hub.
- Select your upcoming work term from the active placements list.
- Open the tripartite agreement document. Read through the role description, hourly rate, and supervision details carefully.
- If you need to ask the employer for a change, contact your co-op advisor before signing. Do not sign a contract you do not understand.
- Use the digital signature tool to sign the document. The employer will receive an automated email to sign next.
- Once all three parties have signed, you will receive a confirmation email with the final copy.
Deadlines and late signing
You must sign the agreement at least ten business days before your work term starts. If you wait too long, your start date may be delayed, or you could lose your spot in the placement. The college cannot release you to the employer until the agreement is fully executed.
