Report a work issue
If you are completing a co-op work term or a BAPP placement at Wrenford Polytechnic and encounter a problem at your host employer, you can report it to the co-op office. This page covers the procedure for notifying the co-op office about workplace conflicts, safety concerns, or harassment. The co-op office will review your report and work with your employer to find a fair solution.
Who this is for
This process is for any student currently on a paid co-op work term or a degree placement. If you are not on a co-op work term, or if you need immediate emergency help, contact Campus Security at 519-555-0176, ext. 911, or call 911 directly.
What you can report
You can use this procedure to notify the co-op office about:
- Workplace conflicts between you and a supervisor or co-worker
- Safety concerns or unsafe working conditions
- Harassment or discrimination on the job
- Issues with your work term hours, pay, or duties that break the agreement
How to report an issue
Please follow these steps to make a report:
- Write down the details. Note the date, time, location, people involved, and exactly what happened. If there were witnesses, write down their names.
- Contact the co-op office. You can email [email protected] or call 519-555-0183. You can also visit the Co-op & Career Services office on the Benchlands Campus.
- Fill out a Work Issue Report form. Ask for a Work Issue Report form, or ask a staff member for a digital copy. Fill it out as completely as you can.
- Submit your report. Return the form in person, by email, or by mail to the co-op office.
What happens next
Once the co-op office receives your report, a staff member will review it. We keep all reports confidential. A co-op coordinator will contact you within five business days to discuss the next steps. We will reach out to your employer to discuss the issue and work toward a resolution. If the issue involves physical safety or violence, we will contact Campus Security immediately.
Support and follow-up
Reporting a work issue can be stressful. You do not have to handle it alone. The co-op office can connect you with Counselling & Wellness for free, confidential support. You can also visit the Accessibility Services office if you need a workplace accommodation.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can request a review by the co-op director. The co-op office will keep you updated on the progress of your case.
