This four-year program prepares you for technical roles in modern manufacturing and production environments. You will study mechanical engineering principles, materials science and computer-aided design while gaining hands-on experience in the polytechnic's shops and labs. The curriculum blends engineering theory with business communication so you can lead projects and explain technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders. A 14-week co-op placement and a final capstone project give you practical industry experience before you graduate.

What you will learn
You will study how modern factories and production lines work from the ground up. The program covers the machines, software and materials that make up today's manufacturing sector. You will learn to read engineering drawings, use computer-aided design tools and understand how materials behave under stress and heat. Classes combine theory with hands-on work in the Escarpment Building labs and the Tamarack Building shops. You will run equipment, test prototypes and troubleshoot production issues under instructor guidance. You will also take courses in communication and business so you can explain technical ideas to managers, clients and cross-functional teams.
How the program runs
The program runs for four years on the Benchlands Campus. You will study full-time during the September intake. The schedule covers eight regular terms plus a work placement. You will spend most of your time in the Escarpment Building for engineering and manufacturing courses, and in the Tamarack Building for shop work. The program includes a 14-week co-op placement where you work in a manufacturing setting. You will also complete a capstone project in your final term to solve a real industry problem. Your timetable is set out in the course catalogue, and you can track your progress in myWrenford.
Admission
To enter the program, you need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or mature student status. You must have completed Grade 12 math (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60%. You also need Grade 12 English (C or U), also with a minimum grade of 60%. International applicants must provide an English proficiency test score or equivalent. You apply through the provincial college application service. Domestic applicants should submit their documents by the equal consideration date of March 1, 2027. International applicants use the polytechnic's own form on the polytechnic website.
Tuition and fees
Domestic tuition is $6,940 per year. International tuition is $21,400 per year. These amounts cover your regular courses for the academic year. You will also pay ancillary fees of $1,125 per year. Co-op work terms do not add extra tuition charges. The college covers the coordination and workshop support for your placement. You can set up a payment plan or apply for fee waivers through Student Financial Aid.
After you graduate
Graduates move into roles that blend engineering knowledge with production management. Employers in the region hire our graduates for positions that require technical problem solving and process optimisation. You will be ready to work in manufacturing plants, engineering firms and technical sales offices across the province. The program also prepares you for apprenticeship levels in industrial trades if you choose that path later.
How to apply
You can start your application through the provincial college application service. Domestic applicants should submit their documents by the equal consideration date of March 1, 2027. International applicants use the polytechnic's own form. Visit the admissions page for step-by-step instructions. If you need help with the process, contact the Admissions office at 519-555-0171.
