Who this is for
This orientation is for all new international students who have accepted an offer to study at Wrenford Polytechnic. Whether you are starting a certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, or applied bachelor degree program, these sessions will help you prepare for your time in Ontario. The programming covers academic expectations, campus life, immigration rules, and health insurance. You do not need to speak perfect English to join, but you should bring a notebook and a reliable internet connection for the online sessions.
Pre-arrival webinars
We run a series of live webinars before your term begins. These sessions let you meet staff and other students from your home country. You can join from anywhere in the world. The webinars cover the basics of settling into Wrenford, how to open a Canadian bank account, and what to pack for an Ontario winter. You will also learn how to use myWrenford to access your student portal and course materials.
Registration opens four weeks before your term starts. You can sign up through the link on the International Students hub. Seats fill quickly, so we recommend booking as soon as you receive your offer letter. The webinars are free. They run for sixty minutes and are recorded for later viewing.
On-campus orientation
When you arrive in Wrenford, you will attend an in-person orientation at the Benchlands Campus. The event takes place in the Kestrel Centre gymnasium and the surrounding courtyards. It runs for one full day. During the morning, you will receive your student ID card, pick up your course list, and get a campus map. In the afternoon, you will join small group tours of the Kingfisher Building and the Falls Library & Learning Commons. You will also meet your program chair and faculty members who will answer questions about your classes.
Bring a government-issued photo ID, your offer letter, and any immigration documents you received from the province. If you need an accessible seating arrangement or a sign language interpreter, tell the international office when you register. The on-campus event is free. Lunch is provided by Food Services in the Student Union Building.
