Arrival information and airport pickup

Getting started before you arrive

Welcome to Wrenford Polytechnic. We are glad you are joining us. Before you travel to the City of Wrenford, please finish these steps so your first week goes smoothly.

  • Check your study permit and visa. Make sure they are valid for the whole program.
  • Buy health and travel insurance. You must show proof of coverage before you register for classes.
  • Open a Canadian bank account. You can visit a major Canadian bank branch on your first day. Bring your passport, study permit, and proof of enrollment.
  • Book your orientation session. You will meet staff from the international office, learn about campus safety, and get your student card.

Register for orientation through the international student orientation page.

Getting from the airport to campus

When you land, you have a few ways to reach the Benchlands Campus or the Mercer Street Campus.

Wrenford Transit runs route 3 and route 7 to the Benchlands Campus. They stop at the Hollis Hall loop. Route 3 also serves the downtown area near the Mercer Street Campus. You can buy a monthly transit pass through the student union. The pass gives you a discounted rate for the whole term.

Taxi and ride-share are available at the terminal. The trip to campus takes about thirty minutes depending on traffic. Keep your receipts for your records.

Rental cars are not recommended for your first week. Student parking is limited on campus, and you will need a permit to leave a vehicle in our lots.

Optional airport pickup service

If you need a ride from the terminal to campus, the international office can arrange an optional pickup. This service is run by campus security staff and trained volunteers. It is available for new students arriving on your first day of classes or the day before.

Here is what you need to know:

  • Booking deadline: You must book your pickup at least ten business days before your flight lands.
  • Fee: The pickup costs $45 per student. This covers the driver, vehicle, and insurance. Payment is due when you book.
  • What to expect: A staff member will hold a sign with your name near the baggage claim area. They will drive you directly to your residence or the campus main entrance.
  • Flexibility: If your flight is delayed, tell the international office as soon as you know. We will update the driver.

To book a pickup, fill out the request form on the contact the international office page, or call 519-555-0174. We can also help you arrange a pickup for a family member or friend who is driving you.

First day on campus

Bring your passport, study permit, acceptance letter, and proof of insurance to your first orientation session. Staff will check your documents and give you your student ID. You can pick up a campus map and a welcome packet. The student union building has a food hall where you can grab a quick meal.

If you need help finding your residence or your first class, ask any staff member wearing a Wrenford Polytechnic vest. We are here to help you settle in.
