Techniques for processing laser scanning data for 3D modeling.
About this course
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is a core technology for creating precise 3D representations of the built and natural environment. This course teaches you how to collect, process, and model laser scanning data for use in engineering, construction, and environmental studies.
You will spend time in the field using terrestrial and mobile scanners to capture point clouds. Back in the lab, you will use industry-standard software to register, clean, and classify that data. The final project requires you to produce a usable 3D model from raw scan data, extracting the measurements and surfaces your client needs.
