Program Description

Introduction to manual and computer-aided drafting techniques for civil engineering applications.

About the course

This course introduces the fundamental principles of engineering graphics and drafting. You will learn how to communicate technical ideas clearly through both hand-drawn sketches and computer-aided design (CAD) software. The focus is on civil engineering applications, where precision and standardisation are essential for safety and construction.

You will spend time developing your freehand sketching skills before moving on to formal drafting techniques. The second half of the course focuses on CAD software, teaching you how to create, modify, and print professional-quality drawings. You will work through a series of practical exercises that mimic real-world engineering tasks, such as creating site plans and structural details.
