Program Description

Process for predicting and mitigating ecological consequences of proposed industrial and infrastructure projects.

About this course

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a systematic process used to predict the environmental consequences of proposed projects before decisions are made. In this course, you will learn how to assess the potential effects of industrial and infrastructure developments on natural systems. You will practice identifying environmental values, predicting changes, and designing mitigation strategies to reduce adverse impacts.

You will work through a complete EIA cycle, from screening and scoping to the preparation of an impact statement. The course emphasizes practical skills, including field sampling, data analysis, and report writing. You will also explore public consultation and regulatory requirements, preparing you for professional practice in environmental consulting or government agencies.
