Program Description

A survey of generation, transmission, and distribution systems within the Wrenford grid.

Course overview

This course provides a broad introduction to the structures that keep the lights on. You will look at how electricity moves from the generator through high-voltage transmission lines and down to the distribution networks that serve homes and businesses. The focus is on the Wrenford grid, so you will see real examples of how local infrastructure connects to the wider provincial system.

You will learn to read single-line diagrams, identify key pieces of equipment like transformers and circuit breakers, and perform basic calculations for voltage drop and power loss. The course is designed to give you the foundation you need before moving on to more detailed power systems courses in later years.
