Courses

What you will learn

In the Manufacturing Engineering Technician program, you will learn how to plan, monitor, and improve production processes in modern manufacturing environments. You will work with equipment that controls assembly lines, tracks quality, and manages materials. The curriculum covers everything from basic manufacturing techniques and precision measurement to advanced robotics and control systems design. You will also develop the communication and project management skills needed to lead teams and keep projects on schedule. Labs in the Tamarack Building give you hands-on experience with welding, metrology tools, and automated production cells, so you can graduate ready to work on the shop floor or in a planning office.

How the program runs

This is a full-time, two-year program delivered at the Benchlands Campus. Classes and labs are held during the day, Monday to Friday. The program runs on a four-term schedule, starting each September. You will complete fourteen courses across four core subjects, including mechanical engineering technology, manufacturing engineering technology, mathematics, and general studies. There are no co-op work terms built into this program, but you can apply the skills you learn directly to roles in manufacturing, quality assurance, and production planning. The School of Energy & Applied Engineering supports your studies with modern labs and industry-standard software.

Admission

To join this program, you must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or an equivalent qualification, or meet mature student status (19 years of age or older by the start of classes). You must have completed Grade 12 English (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60%, and Grade 12 math (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60%. If your secondary education was completed outside Ontario, please review our international document equivalency page. Qualified applicants are offered admission on a first-come, first-served basis.
