Courses

What you will learn

Start your career in media production by learning how to plan, shoot, and edit video for broadcast and digital platforms. You will work in the Market Square Studios on the Mercer Street Campus, using professional cameras, lighting, and audio equipment to create your own projects. The program covers everything from storyboarding and on-camera performance to editing, colour grading, and sound design. You will also study the ethical and legal standards that guide media production, so you can work confidently in a professional environment.

Classes mix classroom theory with practical studio work. You will collaborate with students across the School of Business & Media on group projects, simulating a real production environment. By the time you graduate, you will have a portfolio of short films, edited segments, and audio recordings that show your technical skills and creative voice.

How the program runs

The program runs full-time over two years, divided into four terms. Classes are held at the Mercer Street Campus, located at 240 Mercer Street in downtown Wrenford. You will take core production courses alongside general education classes in mathematics and communication. Because the program is full-time, you should plan your schedule around weekday class sessions. There is no co-op work term built into this specific program.

Admission

Applicants must hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or qualify as a mature student. You need a Grade 12 English course (C or University preparation) with a minimum grade of 60%. If English is not your first language, you must provide proof of English proficiency through an accepted test or equivalent completed education. All qualified applicants are considered on a first-come, first-served basis. You can review the full list of admission requirements on the Admissions page.

Tuition and fees

2024–25 tuition: $3,990 per year (domestic). Ancillary fees are separate and cost $1,125 per year. The fee covers access to studio equipment, software licences, and campus facilities. You can view the complete fee breakdown on the Tuition & Fees page. Domestic students may apply for Ontario student financial assistance. International students must pay a tuition deposit to receive their Letter of Acceptance.

After you graduate

Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in television, streaming media, corporate video, and independent production. You will have the technical knowledge to work as a video editor, broadcast technician, audio recording specialist, or production coordinator. The hands-on projects you complete during the program also give you a strong portfolio to share with employers and creative directors. Many students continue their education by transferring to a degree program in media studies or digital production.
