What is this service?
This service covers the process for requesting access to anonymized institutional data for academic research. If you are a student or faculty member working on a research project and need Wrenford Polytechnic's own data, you can apply through the Research & Innovation office. We only provide de-identified information that cannot be traced back to individual students, staff, or applicants. You can request student enrollment trends, program completion rates, campus facility usage, or survey results from past student experience studies.
Who can apply
You must be a Wrenford Polytechnic student enrolled in a research methods course, a faculty member, or a graduate student working under faculty supervision. All applicants must have a valid myWrenford login. Undergraduate students must complete a short data privacy module before their request is approved.
How to make a request
Follow these steps to submit your request:
- Review the Research Ethics FAQ to make sure your project meets our guidelines.
- Complete the Research Data Access Request form. You will need to describe your research question, the specific data fields you need, and how you will store and protect the information.
- Attach a signed consent letter from your faculty supervisor confirming that the project has academic approval.
- Submit the form through the myWrenford portal or email it to the Research & Innovation office.
Our team reviews requests within ten business days. If your project involves sensitive information, we may ask for an additional privacy review. You will receive an email confirmation once your request is approved or if we need more details.
Data storage and privacy
Approved data is delivered through a secure link in your myWrenford portal. You must save the files to a password-protected drive or an encrypted external hard drive. Do not store research data on public computers or cloud services that share files by default. If you need help setting up a secure workspace, contact the IT Service Desk. All data must be permanently deleted from your devices by the end date listed on your approval letter.
Fees and deadlines
There is no fee to submit a request for anonymized institutional data. We process applications on a rolling basis throughout the academic year. Plan to submit your request at least four weeks before you need the data for your analysis or presentation. If you need an extension to complete your data analysis, email the office before your original deadline.
