Internal research grants at Wrenford Polytechnic
Wrenford Polytechnic offers internal grants to support student and faculty research projects. These grants help turn ideas into practical work that benefits your program, your community, and the local industry. If you have a research question or a project that needs resources, you can apply for funding through the Research & Innovation office.
Who can apply
Grants are open to current students at any level and to full-time and part-time faculty members. You can apply as an individual or as part of a team. Student teams are encouraged to work with a faculty mentor to guide the research process and ensure it meets academic standards.
What the funding covers
Grants are designed to cover the direct costs of your project. Approved funds can pay for:
- Equipment and software needed for data collection or analysis
- Participant compensation or survey incentives
- Travel to present findings at a conference or visit a partner site
- Research assistant stipends for student team members
Funding cannot be used for general living expenses, tuition, or travel that is already covered by your program or a co-op placement.
How to apply
Applying is straightforward. Follow these steps to submit your proposal:
- Prepare your research outline. Include your question, methods, timeline, and a budget that shows exactly how you will spend the funds.
- Log in to myWrenford. Navigate to the Current Students section and open the grant application form.
- Upload your outline and budget. If you are a student, attach a letter of support from your faculty mentor.
- Submit the form before the deadline. You will receive a confirmation email within two business days.
Review and decision timeline
A review committee made up of faculty members from different schools evaluates each application. They look for projects that are clear, feasible, and useful to your field of study. You will receive a decision email within three weeks of the deadline. If your proposal is successful, the office will send you a funding agreement to sign. If it is not approved, you will receive feedback so you can improve it for next year.
Deadlines and fees
There is no fee to apply for a research grant. The application window opens on August 1 each year and closes on October 31. Applications submitted after October 31 will be reviewed the following year. Funding is awarded once per academic year, so plan your project timeline accordingly.
