You must have valid health insurance to study at Wrenford Polytechnic. This page explains your mandatory coverage, optional travel insurance, how to enroll, and important dates.
Who needs mandatory coverage
All international students studying at Wrenford Polytechnic must join the Wrenford Poly student health plan. This rule applies to everyone arriving on a study permit, no matter how long your program is. You cannot skip this coverage.
What your mandatory plan covers
The Wrenford Poly student health plan protects you from high medical bills while you study in Ontario. Your coverage includes visits to a doctor or nurse, hospital stays, emergency ambulance rides, and prescription medicines. It also covers basic dental and eye care for emergencies. The plan does not cover routine check-ups, cosmetic surgery, or non-emergency treatments.
How to join the plan
You do not need to fill out a separate insurance form. The polytechnic adds the coverage to your student record automatically when you pay your fees. Follow these steps to activate your card.
- Pay your tuition and fees through your myWrenford student portal.
- Check your university email within five business days. You will receive a welcome message with a link to the insurance provider.
- Create your account using your student number.
- Download the provider app on your phone. You can save a digital copy of your insurance card in the app or print a paper copy. Keep it with your student card at all times.
Optional travel insurance
Your mandatory health plan does not cover lost luggage, trip cancellations, or personal liability. If you want extra protection for your belongings and travel plans, you can buy a separate travel insurance policy. You may purchase this policy through the insurance provider in your welcome email or through an outside company. Compare plans before you buy. Make sure the policy covers you for the entire time you plan to stay in Canada.
Deadlines and fees
The Wrenford Poly student health plan costs $480 for the full academic year. You must pay this fee before you arrive in Wrenford. For students starting in the fall term, the payment deadline is August 20, 2026. If you do not pay by this date, the polytechnic will not register you for classes. Late payments may result in a $50 penalty.
