Mature student admission

Who can apply

If you are 19 or older by the start of classes, you qualify as a mature student. You do not need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) to apply. You can apply to full-time programs on the Benchlands or Mercer Street campus, or to part-time and online courses through Continuing Education.

What you need to know

Admission depends on the program you want to study. Most programs expect you to have completed Grade 12 English and Grade 12 Math at a minimum grade of 60%. Some programs, like the engineering-technology degrees, require Grade 12 Math (C or U) with at least 60%. If your previous schooling was outside Canada, you will also need to show English proficiency with an approved test.

If you have not taken these courses recently, you can complete them through a local adult education centre or an upgrading program. Wrenford Polytechnic does not run its own high school upgrading, but we can point you to the right place once you speak with an admissions advisor.

How to apply

Follow these steps to submit your application:

  1. Visit the How to apply page to choose your program and intake.
  2. Domestic applicants submit their application through the provincial college application service. There is no application fee to submit an application to Wrenford Polytechnic.
  3. International applicants use the polytechnic's own application form and upload proof of English proficiency.
  4. Upload your transcripts and identification documents in myWrenford portal once you create an account.
  5. Wait for your admission decision. If you are accepted, you will receive an offer of admission by email.

Deadlines and fees

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until we fill the available seats. The equal consideration date for fall intake is March 1, 2027. We encourage you to apply before this date so you have time to arrange financing, housing, and student cards. Tuition and ancillary fees are due before the term begins. Domestic students pay between $3,480 and $6,940 per year depending on their program, plus $1,125 in ancillary fees. International students pay $17,600 to $21,400 per year plus ancillary fees.

Getting ready for classes

Once you receive your offer, you will need to confirm your seat by accepting it online. If you are new to post-secondary study, we recommend meeting with an academic advisor to review your course plan. You can also visit the Part-time and online page if you want to start with a single course before committing to a full program.
