Students bring local festival to life with new branding
A team of Graphic & Interactive Design students has unveiled a fresh visual identity for the Wrenford Summer Festival, marking a successful collaboration between the School of Business & Media and local event organizers.
The project, completed during the Spring/Summer 2027 term, asked students to develop a logo, colour palette, and promotional materials that would appeal to a broad audience while reflecting the city's industrial heritage. The new brand will be used across social media, signage, and printed programs throughout the festival.
"The brief was to create something energetic but grounded," said Theo Marchetti, chair of the Digital Media & Design department. "The students had to balance creativity with the practical needs of a large-scale public event. Seeing their work displayed around the city is a great outcome."
Students worked directly with festival committee members to refine their concepts, receiving real-world feedback on typography, readability, and brand consistency. The final design features a dynamic emblem that incorporates local landscape elements with modern geometric shapes.
This project highlights the applied research opportunities available to students in the Graphic & Interactive Design program. Through partnerships with community organizations, students gain experience in professional branding workflows and client management.
Festival organizers expressed their satisfaction with the result, noting that the new identity has already generated significant interest on social media ahead of the summer event.
