Distributed generation, demand response, and digital infrastructure for modern electrical distribution networks.
About this course
Smart Grid Integration explores the technologies transforming traditional electrical distribution networks. You will examine how distributed generation sources, such as solar and wind, interact with existing grid infrastructure. The course covers the principles of demand response, where utilities adjust power consumption in real time to balance supply and demand. You will also study the digital communication systems that enable this two-way flow of information and electricity.
Practical applications include designing control systems for microgrids and understanding the cybersecurity protocols required to protect critical energy infrastructure. The course is delivered through a mix of lectures and laboratory simulations.
