Covers investigation techniques for mechanical failures, root cause analysis, and corrective actions in manufacturing systems.
About this course
In this course, you will learn how to investigate mechanical failures and determine their root causes. You will study the techniques used to analyse broken or failed components, including material testing and fractography. The course focuses on identifying why failures occur and how to implement corrective actions to prevent them from happening again.
You will work through real-world case studies to practice your investigation skills. The course also covers how to document your findings and communicate technical recommendations to engineers and management.
Who takes this course
This course is an elective for students in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program. It is also open to students in the Manufacturing Engineering Technician program and the Bachelor of Applied Technology — Advanced Manufacturing program.
