What this service covers
This page explains the Process for submitting medical or psychological documentation for exam accommodations. If you have a documented disability, you can request extra time, a quiet room, or assistive technology for your tests and exams. There is no fee to register with Accessibility Services or to book exam accommodations.
Who can apply
Any current Wrenford Polytechnic student with a documented disability may apply. Eligible conditions include learning disabilities, visual or hearing impairments, mobility limitations, mental health conditions, and chronic illnesses. You must be registered in a full-time or part-time program.
How to request accommodations
Follow these steps to set up your exam accommodations:
- Book an intake meeting. Contact Accessibility Services to schedule an appointment. You will discuss your functional limitations and what supports work best for you.
- Submit your documentation. Provide a recent report from a qualified health practitioner. The report must confirm your diagnosis, describe how it affects your learning, and recommend specific exam accommodations.
- Review your accommodation plan. Once your documentation is approved, you will receive an accommodation letter. This letter outlines your approved supports, such as extended time or a distraction-reduced environment.
- Book your exam appointment. Use the Testing Centre booking system to reserve your accommodation slot. You must confirm your appointment at least 48 hours before the scheduled time.
Documentation requirements
Your documentation must be current and signed by a licensed professional. We accept reports from physicians, psychologists, occupational therapists, and registered nurses. The report should include:
- A clear diagnosis of your disability
- A description of your current functional limitations
- Specific recommendations for exam accommodations
- The professional's contact information and credentials
If your documentation is older than three years, or if your condition has changed, you may need to submit an updated report. Accessibility Services will let you know if you need new information.
Important deadlines
Submit your documentation at least 10 business days before your first exam of the term. Late submissions may delay your accommodations. Once your accommodation plan is active, you must book each exam appointment through the Testing Centre. The Testing Centre requires 48 hours notice for all bookings. If you miss an exam due to a late booking, you may be responsible for the exam fee and must resit through the standard process.
