What student loans and grants are
The province offers student loans and grants to help cover tuition, books, and living costs. Loans must be repaid after you finish your program. Grants do not need to be repaid. You are automatically assessed for grants when you apply for a loan, and you will receive them along with your loan approval if you qualify.
Who can apply
Domestic students enrolled in full-time or part-time programs at Wrenford Polytechnic can apply. You must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person. International students must look for funding through their home country or private lenders, as government programs do not cover them.
How to apply
Domestic full-time students apply through the provincial college application service. You will need a verified account on the provincial portal to log in and submit your application online. Part-time students register directly with the college, but you still apply for funding through the provincial service. If you are a first-time applicant or it has been several years since your last application, you will need to complete a loan agreement. If you have a spouse or partner, you may also need to complete a joint declaration form.
When to apply
Applications open in the spring and summer for the following academic year. Processing can take two months or more, so apply as early as possible. You must apply for funding for each term you attend. Your funds will not be released until you complete all required agreements. You can check your application status in your myWrenford portal once it is live, or monitor the provincial portal directly.
Getting your funds
Once approved, you will receive a Student Award Letter outlining your funding and disbursement dates. About a month before your program starts, the college will confirm your enrolment with the provincial service. At that point, your funds will be sent directly to Wrenford Polytechnic to cover your tuition and fees. You will receive an email with important details on how to check your status and any remaining balance. If you need a fee payment extension while waiting for your funding, contact the Student Financial Aid office.
