Refund and withdrawal policy

Withdrawing from your program or dropping a course

If you need to leave Wrenford Polytechnic or stop attending a course, you must formally withdraw or drop through the Registrar's office. Failing to do so will result in academic penalties and you will be responsible for the full tuition amount.

You can withdraw as a full student or drop an individual course. Rules and deadlines change depending on whether you are in a full-time program, a part-time or online course, or studying internationally.

Full-time programs

Full-time students in certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate, and applied degree programs must follow these refund deadlines for the Fall 2026 term (classes start September 8, 2026):

  • Before classes start: You will receive a 100% tuition refund. Ancillary and residence fees are non-refundable.
  • First week of classes (by September 14, 2026): You will receive a 75% tuition refund.
  • Second week to add/drop deadline (November 6, 2026): You will receive a 50% tuition refund.
  • After the add/drop deadline: No tuition refund is available. You may still formally withdraw to clear your academic record, but you will owe the full term tuition.

For Winter 2027 (classes start January 11, 2027), the deadlines shift by ten weeks. For Spring/Summer 2027 (classes start May 10, 2027), contact the Registrar's office for term-specific dates.

Part-time and online courses

Part-time and Continuing Education students register directly with the college rather than through the provincial college application service. Refund rules for these courses are based on the course start date:

  • More than four weeks before the course starts: 100% tuition refund.
  • Within four weeks of the course start: 50% tuition refund.
  • After the course has started: No refund is issued.

Online and hybrid courses follow the same schedule, but the clock starts on the first day of scheduled online sessions.

International students

International students who pay higher tuition rates must follow the same withdrawal deadlines as domestic students. If your study permit is denied by immigration authorities, you can request a full refund of your tuition deposit and paid fees by providing the official refusal letter to the International Office.

If your status changes from international to domestic while in Canada, you must submit proof to the International Office before the refund deadline to receive the difference between the two tuition rates.

How to request a refund

  1. Complete the Withdrawal or Course Drop form available at the Registrar's office in Hollis Hall or online through the student portal.
  2. Submit the form to Student Financial Aid by email or in person.
  3. Student Financial Aid will calculate your refund amount based on the date you submitted the form.
  4. Refunds are processed within four to six business days. Payments are issued by direct deposit or paper cheque. If you receive a cheque, allow an additional week for mailing.

Keep your mailing address and email current in the student portal so you do not miss any correspondence or refund notices.
