About exam deferrals
If you cannot write an exam or complete a course component by the scheduled date, you may apply for an exam deferral or course modification. This service is managed by Accessibility Services. The scope of this process covers how to apply for exam or course modifications through Accessibility Services. Deferrals allow you to reschedule an assessment or adjust a course requirement when a documented medical, personal, or emergency situation prevents you from meeting the original deadline.
Who can apply
Any enrolled student at Wrenford Polytechnic may request a deferral. You do not need a pre-existing disability support plan to apply. If you experience a sudden illness, a family emergency, or another serious circumstance that affects your ability to write an exam or submit work, you can request an accommodation. International students are also eligible, provided the request is submitted through the same process.
How to apply
- Download the Accommodation Request Form from the Accessibility Services webpage or collect a printed copy from the service desk.
- Complete the student section of the form with your program details and the specific exam or course component you need to defer.
- Have a qualified medical professional, counsellor, or relevant authority complete the supporting documentation. The provider must confirm that the situation limits your ability to write the exam or complete the work on the scheduled date.
- Submit the completed form and supporting documents to Accessibility Services at least 48 hours before the scheduled exam or deadline. You can drop off the forms in person or email them as a single PDF attachment.
- Accessibility Services will review your request and notify you and your instructor of the approved accommodation. You will receive a formal accommodation letter outlining the deferral date or alternative arrangement.
- Once you have the approved letter, coordinate with your instructor to schedule the deferred exam or arrange the course modification. Follow the instructor's instructions for the new submission date.
Important deadlines and fees
There is no fee to submit a deferral or modification request. Accessibility Services processes requests as quickly as possible, but you must meet the minimum notice requirement to ensure your instructor can adjust the course schedule. Emergency requests may be submitted within 24 hours if supported by a medical or legal professional, but approval is not guaranteed for late submissions.
