Drop or withdraw from a course

What is a course drop or withdrawal?

You can drop or withdraw from a course if your schedule no longer fits your goals or life. A drop removes the course from your term completely. A withdrawal removes the course after the drop period and leaves a W on your academic record. Both actions affect your tuition, course load, and sometimes your student status or funding. Always check the impact before you decide.

Key deadlines and refunds

The most important date is the last day to drop a course without academic penalty. For the Fall 2026 term, this date is November 6, 2026. If you drop a course before this date, you get a full tuition refund and the course disappears from your transcript. After November 6, you can still withdraw from the course, but you will receive a W notation on your record and no tuition refund. Short courses or summer terms have different deadlines. Check the Academic calendar or the Important dates page for your specific term.

Some programs and part-time classes have non-standard drop dates. Your program chair or course outline will list the exact deadline. If you are unsure, contact the Registrar's office before you make a change.

How to drop or withdraw

Follow these steps to change your schedule:

  1. Log in to the myWrenford student portal with your student credentials.
  2. Go to the Registration section and select Course Change Request.
  3. Choose the term and the course you want to drop or withdraw from.
  4. Confirm the action and submit the form.
  5. Check your student account within one business day to confirm the change and review any refund processing.

If you do not have access to myWrenford or you are taking a Continuing Education class, you must complete a paper Course Change Request form. Bring the form to the Registrar's office in Hollis Hall, Room 104, or submit it by email to [email protected]. Processing takes up to two business days.

Consider the impact

Dropping a course can change your full-time or part-time status. This may affect your Ontario student financial assistance, your course load, your graduation timeline, or your eligibility for campus services. If you are an apprentice or an international student, special rules may apply. Talk to an academic advisor or a financial aid officer before you submit your request.
