Withdraw from classes
Withdrawing from a course or leaving the college is a big decision. You can do it at any time, but the deadline you choose affects your tuition refund and your academic record. Follow these steps to make sure your withdrawal is processed correctly.
Before classes start
If you withdraw before the first day of classes, you will get a 100% tuition refund. This applies to full-time and part-time students.
During the first week of classes
For full-time students, withdrawing within the first week of classes gives you a 75% refund. Part-time and online students who withdraw within four weeks of the start date get a 50% refund.
Before the add/drop deadline
The last day to drop a course without an academic penalty is November 6, 2026. If you withdraw by this date, full-time students receive a 50% refund. After this date, you will not receive a tuition refund, and the course will stay on your transcript with a grade of W.
How to withdraw
- Fill out the Withdrawal or Course Drop form.
- Submit the form to the Registrar office. You can drop it off at Hollis Hall or email it to [email protected].
- Wait for processing. It takes four to six business days to complete your request. You will get a confirmation email once the withdrawal is recorded.
Fees and refunds
Your tuition refund will be sent back to the original payment method. Please allow extra time for banks to process the money. Ancillary and residence fees are non-refundable when a student withdraws.
Important notes
- Co-op work term earnings are treated as income and reduce loan eligibility for the next term.
- International students should contact the International Students office before withdrawing, as it may affect your study permit status.
- If you are on a payment plan, the Registrar will adjust your remaining installments based on the refund amount.
