Who this is for
If you have a physical, learning, mental health, or chronic health condition that affects how you study or take tests, you may need extra time or other supports during tutoring sessions or exams. Accessibility Services works with you to create an accommodation plan that fits your program and your needs.
What your plan covers
Common supports include extended time for quizzes and final exams, use of a quiet room in the Testing Centre, assistive technology, note-taking assistance, and breaks during long testing sessions. Your plan is specific to you and your program requirements.
How to apply
- Register with Accessibility Services as early as possible in your term. You can start the process before classes begin.
- Submit current medical or psychological documentation. This does not need to be a diagnosis, but it must describe how your condition impacts your learning or testing.
- Book an intake meeting with an Accessibility Advisor. We will review your documentation and discuss your past accommodations.
- Receive your official accommodation plan. You will get a digital letter you can share with your instructors and with the Learning Commons & Tutoring staff.
- Book your tutoring or test sessions. Bring your accommodation letter to the Testing Centre or Learning Commons when you book a peer tutor or request a test room.
Fees and deadlines
There is no fee to register with Accessibility Services or to receive an accommodation plan. All supports are covered by your student fees. Documentation should be submitted before the term start date so your plan is ready by class day. If you miss the deadline, your advisor will still review your application, but your accommodations may not be active until the paperwork is complete.
