Changing your program of study

Who can change their program

If you are an international student studying at Wrenford Polytechnic and need to move to a different program, or if you have previous coursework you want credited, this page explains the steps. You can also use this process to declare a major or concentration within your current program.

You must be enrolled in a full-time program and hold a valid study permit. Students who have completed more than half of their program requirements cannot transfer to a new program. You are eligible for only one program change per academic year.

How to submit your request

  1. Check your eligibility. You must meet the admission requirements for the new program. You must also be in good academic standing and have no outstanding financial balances on your student account.
  2. Complete the online form. Log in to the student portal and open the Program Change Request form. Select your new program from the list and attach copies of your unofficial transcripts.
  3. Pay the processing fee. A $125 administration fee is required for every request. The fee is charged to your student account and is non-refundable once the review begins.
  4. Wait for approval. The Registrar's Office reviews all requests. Processing takes up to two weeks. You will receive an email with the decision.

Do not register for classes in the new program until you receive your approval email. You must also book an appointment with an academic advisor to review your new course plan. You cannot register for classes until advising is complete.

Deadlines and term dates

Submit your request early so your study permit remains valid. Late submissions will not be processed until the next available term.

  • For the Fall term (September), submit by August 15.
  • For the Winter term (January), submit by December 1.
  • For the Spring/Summer term (May), submit by April 15.

During peak intake periods in September, January, and May, processing times may be longer. Programs that require departmental approval from the program chair may take additional time.

Crediting previous coursework

If you want previous college or university coursework credited toward your new program, include the official transcripts with your request. The academic program chair will review each course to see if the content matches Wrenford Polytechnic standards. Credit is only granted if the previous course covers the same learning outcomes. You will see any approved credits listed on your updated program plan after approval.
