Get an e-mail check

What is an e-mail check?

When you are looking for a co-op work term, an internship, or a full-time job, your first contact with an employer is often a professional e-mail. Getting an e-mail check means a member of the Co-op & Career Services team will read your draft and give you feedback. We look at your subject line, greeting, body, and sign-off to make sure your message is clear, polite, and professional. This helps you make a strong first impression before an interview or a work term starts.

Who can use this service?

This service is free for all currently enrolled Wrenford Polytechnic students. Alumni who are looking for work or applying for graduate certificates can also book a session. If you are a prospective student, you can still reach out to us for general advice, but the review service is reserved for active students and alumni.

How to get your e-mail reviewed

You do not need a referral to use this service. You can book an appointment through your student portal or you can drop by the office during business hours. If you need a quick review before a short deadline, tell us when you book so we can try to fit you in. We offer both in-person and virtual appointments.

What to prepare

Before your appointment, please have the following ready:

  • A draft of your e-mail. You can bring a printed copy or share your screen if you are meeting online.
  • The job posting or work term description you are applying for.
  • Any specific questions you have about tone or formatting.
  • Your student or alumni card.

The reviewer will highlight what works well and point out areas to improve. You will leave with a revised version you can send to your employer or a clear plan to finish it yourself.

Fees and deadlines

There is no fee for this service. We ask that you book your appointment at least two business days before you plan to send your e-mail. This gives our staff enough time to review your draft and prepare feedback. If you miss your appointment without cancelling, you will need to book again and wait the usual turnaround time.
