About refereeing at Wrenford Polytechnic
Students at Wrenford Polytechnic can sign up to referee intramural and junior varsity matches. This role gives you a chance to stay active, learn game rules, and help keep our sports community running smoothly. You will work alongside staff from the Athletics & Recreation office and report directly to the intramural coordinator.
Why you should referee
Refereeing is a great way to earn extra credit toward your program requirements. Many departments list sports officiating as a valid volunteer hour or practical credit. You will also build leadership skills, improve your communication, and get free access to the Kestrel Centre fitness facilities while you work.
How to sign up
- Check your program rules. Review your course outline or program guide to confirm you qualify for extra credit or volunteer hours.
- Submit your request. Log in to the student portal and complete the referee sign-up form. You will need to list your preferred sports and available days.
- Attend the orientation. Come to the Kestrel Centre for a short one-hour training session. We cover basic rules, safety protocols, and how to use the timing and scoring tools.
- Join the schedule. Once you pass the orientation, your name goes on the weekly rotation. You will receive a text message when a match needs a referee.
Fees and deadlines
There is no fee to referee. You must complete your sign-up form by the second week of each term to make sure you can start working in time. If you miss the deadline, you will join the wait list for the next term.
