Who can request accommodations
If you have a physical, learning, mental health, or chronic health condition that affects your studies, you may be eligible for academic accommodations. Accessibility Services provides support to all enrolled students at Wrenford Polytechnic. Accommodations are arranged on a case-by-case basis to ensure you have equal access to courses, programs, and campus life.
How to get started
Follow these steps to request academic accommodations:
- Book an intake appointment. Visit the Accessibility Services office in KB 204, Benchlands Campus, or call 519-555-0170, ext. 181 to schedule a meeting.
- Complete the intake form. You will fill out a student information form that describes how your condition affects your learning. You can submit this form through the myWrenford student portal before your appointment.
- Provide supporting documentation. You must submit a professional assessment or medical letter that confirms your diagnosis and outlines your functional limitations. The letter must be written by a licensed health professional or psychologist. You are responsible for paying the doctor's or specialist's fees to complete this documentation.
- Meet with an Accessibility Advisor. During your intake meeting, you will discuss your academic program, past accommodations, and the specific supports you need. Together, you will create an accommodation plan.
- Share your plan with instructors. Once approved, you will receive a letter outlining your approved accommodations. You can share this letter directly with your instructors to activate your supports for each term.
Important deadlines
Start the registration process as early as possible to ensure your supports are in place before classes begin. We recommend registering at least six weeks before classes begin for standard accommodations. If you need complex accommodations, such as Braille textbooks, assistive technology, or sign language interpreters, please register four to six months before program start.
Fees and costs
There is no fee to register with Accessibility Services or to book an accommodation appointment. Accessibility Services does not charge for emergency procedures, safety escorts, or reporting concerns. However, you are responsible for the cost of any external medical assessments or doctor's fees required to verify your condition. If the cost of a professional assessment is a barrier, please speak with an Accessibility Advisor about available funding options.
