Provides hands-on experience in disassembling, inspecting, and rebuilding heavy duty diesel engines.
Course overview
This course gives you the practical skills needed to take apart, check, and rebuild heavy duty diesel engines. You will work in the Engine Lab at the Benchlands Campus, using real tools and equipment found in the field. The course builds on the engine principles you learned in HVEQ 1250, moving from theory to hands-on assembly.
Who takes this course
What you will learn
You will spend most of your time in the shop. You will learn how to safely disassemble an engine, inspect every part for wear, and measure components to see if they meet the factory limits. You will then learn how to put the engine back together, making sure every bolt is torqued correctly and every seal is in place. The course ends with a test run to check for leaks and make sure the engine runs smoothly.
This course is a key step for students who want to work on large trucks, construction equipment, or mining machinery. You will leave with the confidence to handle a full engine overhaul on your own.
