Investigates ecological systems, environmental regulations, and sustainability strategies for technical and professional practice.
About this course
GNED 1860 Environmental Systems and Policy looks at how the natural world works and how our laws protect it. You will learn about the basics of ecology, such as how energy moves through an ecosystem, and see how that science connects to the rules we follow in the workplace. This course is designed for students in technical and professional programs who need to understand the environmental side of their future jobs.
You will study the main environmental laws in Ontario and Canada. We will look at real examples of how regulations affect projects and daily operations. The goal is to help you spot environmental issues early and suggest practical ways to handle them. You will also practice writing reports that explain these issues clearly to people who are not experts in science or law.
