Advanced treatment of asset valuation, liabilities, and equity in accordance with current reporting standards.
Course overview
FINA 2130 Intermediate Financial Accounting moves beyond the basics to explore the complex rules that govern how businesses report their financial health. You will learn how to value assets, record liabilities, and account for equity in line with current reporting standards. This course builds directly on the foundation laid in Financial Accounting Principles, so you should be comfortable with the accounting cycle before you start.
Through a mix of lectures, case studies, and hands-on exercises, you will learn to prepare and analyse financial statements for different types of organisations. You will also discover how different accounting choices can change the numbers on a balance sheet and what that means for investors and managers.
