Techniques for interpreting complex electrical schematics, ladder logic, and wiring diagrams.
About this course
Electrical work relies on clear communication, and schematic diagrams are the language of the trade. In ELTR 1520, you will learn to read and interpret the complex diagrams that guide installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. You will move beyond simple wire connections to understand ladder logic and multi-component wiring systems.
The course covers standard symbols, notation, and the methods used to trace power and control circuits. You will practice identifying components on complex diagrams and use schematics to diagnose basic circuit faults. These skills are essential for anyone working in industrial maintenance, automation, or electrical construction.
Who takes this course
This course is an elective for students in the Electrical Techniques program. It is also open to students in other programs within the School of Skilled Trades & Transportation who need to strengthen their diagram reading skills.
