Production of digital assets and environments suitable for interactive entertainment and simulation software.
About this course
In this course, you will learn how to build the visual building blocks used in interactive entertainment and simulation software. You will move from concept art to final 3D models, learning how to create assets that look great while running smoothly in real-time engines. The focus is on practical production skills: modelling, texturing, and optimising files so they work within the technical limits of modern game engines.
You will work through a series of projects that mirror industry pipelines. You will start by creating a modular environment kit, then move on to detailed character or prop assets. Finally, you will integrate your work into an engine environment, setting up materials and lighting to showcase your portfolio. No prior game engine experience is required, but familiarity with digital illustration and basic video production concepts is helpful.
Who takes this course
This course is an elective for students in the Graphic & Interactive Design program. It is also open to students in other Digital Media & Design programs who need a credit in 3D production.
