Program Description

Detailed design of walls, roofs, and foundations for weather resistance and performance.

About this course

This course focuses on the detailed design of building envelopes, including walls, roofs, and foundations. You will learn how to create assemblies that provide weather resistance and long-term performance. The curriculum covers weather barrier strategies, thermal and moisture control, and water management at critical interfaces.

You will work on practical design projects that require you to specify materials and details for different building types. You will also evaluate envelope performance using simulation tools to ensure compliance with building codes and energy efficiency standards.

Who takes this course

This course is an elective in the Architectural Technology program. It is also open to students in the Bachelor of Applied Technology — Building Science program.
