Introduction to design principles and spatial organization through foundational studio projects and technical drawing.
About this course
ARCH 1230 Architectural Design Studio One introduces you to the core principles of architectural design and spatial organization. You will work through foundational studio projects that require you to translate a design brief into clear, functional spaces. The course places a strong emphasis on technical drawing, ensuring you can communicate your ideas accurately through both hand-drafted and digital methods.
You will spend significant time in the studio, developing your concepts through iterative sketching and model-making. Regular critiques with your instructor and peers will help you refine your work and understand how design decisions impact the user experience. This course is a key step in building the visual and technical vocabulary you will need in later design studios.
