Report a safety concern

What you can report

You can report any safety concern or hazard on either the Benchlands Campus or the Mercer Street Campus. This includes broken equipment, blocked exits, suspicious activity, maintenance issues, environmental hazards, or incidents that affect the safety of students, staff, and visitors. We rely on you to help us keep the campus secure and well-maintained.

Who can submit a report

Anyone on campus can submit a report. This includes students, faculty, staff, contractors, and visitors. You do not need to be a direct witness to the incident to report a hazard or a safety concern. If you notice something that looks unsafe or out of place, please let us know.

How to report a safety concern

Follow these steps to submit your report through the secure online portal or by phone.

  1. Fill out the online safety reporting form with as much detail as possible. Include the date, time, exact location on campus, and a clear description of the issue.
  2. Attach photos or videos if you have them. Clear images help our team assess the risk quickly and dispatch the right personnel.
  3. Submit the form. You will receive an automatic confirmation email with a unique reference number.
  4. Save the reference number. You can use it to check the status of your report or add more information later.

If you cannot use the online portal, you can call the Campus Security office to file a report over the phone. An officer will take down all the necessary details for you.

Anonymous tips

You can submit an anonymous tip if you prefer not to share your identity. The reporting form has a dedicated option to remain anonymous. We take all anonymous reports seriously and will investigate hazards or risks without delay. Please note that if a report requires follow-up questions, an anonymous submission may limit our ability to gather all necessary details. If you are comfortable sharing your contact information, it helps us resolve the issue faster.

Formal complaints

For ongoing safety issues or specific incidents that require a formal review, use the formal complaint path. Select the formal complaint option on the reporting form and provide a detailed timeline of events. A Campus Security officer will review your submission and contact you to outline the next steps.

Fees and deadlines

There is no fee to submit a safety report. You can submit a report at any time. Campus Security reviews all reports within three business days. Emergency reports are addressed immediately.
