Who this applies to
These rules cover every student who writes a midterm or final exam at the Testing Centre. They apply to in-person exams held in the Falls Library & Learning Commons on the Benchlands Campus. Classroom exams follow your instructor's specific rules, but the Testing Centre rules below are the baseline for all exams.
Booking and fees
You book your exam through myWrenford. There is no fee to book a regular midterm or final exam. Once your booking is confirmed, you must log back in to confirm your appointment at least 48 hours before the scheduled time. If you do not confirm, your slot may be released to another student.
Arrival and identification
Arrive at the Testing Centre 15 minutes before your scheduled time. You must show a valid Wrenford Polytechnic student ID card to check in. If you forget your card, you can show a government-issued photo ID, but you must visit the IT Service Desk in Hollis Hall to get a replacement card first. Replacement cards cost $15 and must be paid for at the Registrar's Office in Hollis Hall before you go to IT. Arriving more than 30 minutes after the start time will not be permitted, and you will not be allowed to write the exam.
Permitted and prohibited items
You may bring a clear water bottle into the testing area. You must leave all other personal belongings in the lockers provided. The following items are strictly prohibited inside the testing area:
- Cell phones, smartwatches, and earbuds
- Unauthorised electronic devices or calculators
- Paper, notes, or study materials not explicitly approved by your instructor
- Food
If your instructor allows a specific calculator or materials, you must bring only the approved model. Wireless headphones are not permitted. If you need wired headphones for an approved accommodation, you may bring them. The Testing Centre staff will inspect all permitted items before you sit down.
Behaviour during the exam
Maintain complete silence while writing your exam. Do not speak to other test-takers, make noise, or use gestures to communicate. If you have a question, raise your hand and wait for an invigilator to approach you. Do not leave your seat without permission.
You may request a washroom break by raising your hand. You must sign in and out at the front desk, and you must remain within the Testing Centre's view at all times. You must leave the testing area immediately when you finish your exam, even if other students are still writing. Talking or making noise after you finish your exam is not allowed.
Emergencies and accommodations
If you feel ill or experience a crisis during an exam, raise your hand and tell the invigilator. You must hand in your unfinished exam and ask for it to be cancelled. You will need to provide supporting documentation to your instructor within 48 hours to arrange a resit. In a medical emergency, the invigilator will call 911 or Campus Security.
Students who require testing accommodations through Accessibility Services must register their needs before the term starts. If you have an approved accommodation, it will be applied automatically when you book your exam in myWrenford. If you experience a new or urgent need, contact Accessibility Services at 519-555-0170, ext. 181.
