What is a collection request?
A collection request lets you suggest new books, journals, databases, or media that the Falls Library & Learning Commons should purchase. Whether you need a resource for a course, a research project, or personal study, your input helps the library build a collection that supports your programs.
Who can submit a request
Both students and faculty may submit requests. Faculty requests often support course readings and program curriculum. Student requests may cover anything from required textbooks to supplementary materials for clubs, co-op placements, or independent learning. The library welcomes suggestions from the wider Wrenford Polytechnic community, including staff.
How to submit your request
Follow these steps to add a title to the library's acquisition list:
- Find the Collection Request Form on the Library services page or ask for one at the service desk in the Falls Library & Learning Commons.
- Fill in the title, author, publisher, and ISBN or ISSN if you have it. If you do not have the full details, provide a link to the publisher or a reliable online source.
- State why the resource would be useful for your program or research.
- Submit the form online, or drop a printed copy at the service desk during business hours.
- The library will review the request and check if the material is already available in our databases or if a digital copy exists.
- You will receive a confirmation email. If the library purchases the item, you will be notified when it is ready for checkout.
Processing time and fees
The library reviews requests each month. Processing typically takes two to four weeks, depending on the item's availability and budget. There is no fee to submit a request. However, the library cannot guarantee that every requested title will be purchased, as decisions depend on funding, space, and how well the item matches our collection priorities.
