About the campus accessibility map
The campus accessibility map is an interactive guide showing accessible entrances, elevators, washrooms, and route options across both campuses. The map is managed by Accessibility Services in partnership with Campus Planning & Facilities. It helps you plan your route to classes, labs, and offices before you arrive on site.
How to use the map
You can open the map from the Accessibility Services page or from the main campus map portal. The map lets you filter features based on your needs. You can search for:
- Accessible entrances and level entry routes
- Elevator status and floor plans
- Accessible washrooms and drinking fountains
- Active construction sites that may affect your route
When you select a building, the map shows the closest accessible entrance and highlights elevator locations. If an elevator is out of service, the map updates in real time so you can find an alternative route or a different floor entrance. You can also view washrooms that are equipped with adult changing tables or family accessible features.
Building information
The map covers every building on both campuses. You can view details for the following buildings:
- Benchlands Campus: Hollis Hall, Tamarack Building, Escarpment Building, Corvid Hall, Kingfisher Building, Falls Library & Learning Commons, Kestrel Centre, Student Union Building, Larch House, and Ashgrove House.
- Mercer Street Campus: Mill Building and Market Square Studios.
Each building page lists step-free access points, ramp gradients, and door widths where available. If a building has a service elevator, the map notes the weight limits and call button height.
Emergency evacuation and areas of refuge
If you need assistance during an emergency evacuation, the map identifies Areas of Refuge in every building. These are designated safe zones where you can wait for Campus Security or emergency fire personnel. Areas of Refuge are marked with signage on the right side of stairwell doors. You can view the exact location of these zones for each building on the map.
If you require assistance during an emergency, contact Campus Security immediately. Emergencies should always call 911 first. For non-emergency security assistance, call 519-555-0176.
Accessible parking and transit
The map links to the parking page for information on disability-designated parking permits. Students with a valid permit may park in designated stalls on both campuses. Lot C at the Benchlands Campus is closest to the residence buildings. At the Mercer Street Campus, students should use the municipal parking lots downtown. The map also shows the nearest accessible transit stops. Wrenford Transit routes 3 and 7 stop at the Hollis Hall loop on the Benchlands Campus. The Mercer Street Campus is steps from the Downtown Transit Terminal.
Who can use the map
The map is designed for students, staff, and visitors who need accessible routes. You do not need to be registered with Accessibility Services to view the map, but we encourage students with ongoing mobility, sensory, or cognitive needs to register so we can provide additional support. If you find an error in the map or notice a barrier that is not marked, please report it using the report a barrier tool on the Accessibility Services page.
