What are external awards?
External awards are scholarships, bursaries, or other financial supports offered by organizations, industries, and community groups outside Wrenford Polytechnic. The college collects these opportunities and shares them so you can explore additional ways to fund your education. For most external awards, you apply directly to the organization providing the funding. Wrenford Polytechnic does not administer those applications.
Some external awards are managed by the college. For these, you submit your application through Wrenford Polytechnic, and the college reviews and forwards eligible applications to the award provider.
Who can apply
External awards are open to any current student at Wrenford Polytechnic, whether you are studying full-time or part-time on the Benchlands Campus or the Mercer Street Campus. Eligibility changes depending on the specific award. Some focus on your program of study, your year of study, financial need, or community involvement. Always check the eligibility requirements for each award before you start your application.
How to apply
Follow these steps to apply for external awards managed by the college:
- Visit the Scholarships & Bursaries hub to browse the current list of managed external awards.
- Read the eligibility criteria and application instructions for the award you want.
- Log in to your myWrenford portal to access the student financial aid application form.
- Complete the online application and upload any required supporting documents, such as a letter of reference or a financial need statement.
- Submit your application before the posted deadline. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
Deadlines and fees
Each external award has its own application deadline. Deadlines are posted on the award listing and in your myWrenford portal. Mark your calendar and submit early to avoid technical issues on the last day.
There is no application fee to apply for external awards managed by the college. You only need to cover the cost of obtaining official transcripts or letters of reference, if the award provider requires them.
What happens after you apply
The Student Financial Aid office reviews your application for completeness. If you meet the basic criteria, we forward your file to the award provider for final selection. You will receive a notification by email once a decision has been made. If you are selected, the award will be credited to your student account to cover tuition and fees, or issued as a cheque if the balance is already paid.
