About the work study program
Work study is a government-funded program that provides on-campus jobs to help you cover living costs while you study. Instead of taking out a private loan, you earn money through part-time work at Wrenford Polytechnic. The program is designed to fit around your classes, so you can gain professional experience while keeping your studies on track.
Who is eligible?
- You must be a domestic student enrolled in full-time studies.
- You must be in good academic standing.
- You must demonstrate financial need as assessed by the provincial student aid office.
- International students are not eligible for government work study, but you may explore other on-campus employment options through the International student office.
How to apply
Follow these steps to secure a work study position:
- Check your eligibility. Log in to the myWrenford portal and review your work study award letter. Your award amount tells you the maximum you can earn during the term.
- Find a position. Browse the student job board in myWrenford. Positions are listed by department, including the Falls Library & Learning Commons, Campus Security, Food Services, and various academic schools.
- Submit your application. Upload a current resume and a brief cover letter through the portal. You can apply to multiple departments, but you can only hold one active work study contract at a time.
- Interview and hire. Hiring managers will contact you to schedule an interview. If selected, you will receive a formal offer letter outlining your hourly rate, weekly schedule, and start date.
- Complete onboarding. Before your first shift, you must submit tax forms and a workplace safety acknowledgement. Your supervisor will guide you through the final steps.
Deadlines and work limits
Applications open the first business day of each term and close when positions are filled. Because demand is high, you should apply within the first two weeks of classes. You can work a maximum of 15 hours per week during term time. Work hours are scheduled around your class timetable, and you will not be expected to work during exam weeks or reading weeks.
