Emergency bursaries and food support
Unexpected costs can happen at any time. Whether you face a sudden medical bill, a broken laptop, or a gap in your living expenses, Student Financial Aid is here to help you stay in school. We offer emergency bursaries and access to the campus food bank to students who need short-term financial relief.
Who qualifies
- Full-time or part-time students enrolled in a credit program, apprenticeship, or Continuing Education course.
- You must be currently attending classes.
- You must be enrolled for a minimum of four weeks in the current term.
Emergency bursary
The emergency bursary helps cover unplanned expenses that threaten your ability to continue your studies. Awards range from $200 to $1,000 per emergency and are given on a first-come, first-qualified basis. There is no application fee to submit your request.
Student Access bursary
If your financial need goes beyond a one-time emergency, you may qualify for the Student Access bursary. This bursary supports students with ongoing financial hardship that is not covered by other funding sources, such as government loans or family support.
How to apply
- Apply for government student financial assistance first. You must show proof of your application or award letter.
- Complete the emergency bursary application in the myWrenford portal.
- Upload supporting documents, such as receipts, eviction notices, or repair estimates.
- Submit your application to the Student Financial Aid office.
Most applications are reviewed within 5 business days. You will receive a response to your Wrenford Polytechnic email once a decision is made.
Emergency food bank
The Student Association runs an emergency food bank for students experiencing food insecurity. You can visit the food bank once per term, up to three times per academic year. To access the food bank, you must complete a brief pre-screening with a student advisor in Hollis Hall, Room 104. Bring a valid student photo ID to collect your items.
