Apply for a leave of absence

What is a leave of absence?

A leave of absence lets you take a temporary break from your studies without losing your place in your program. You can pause your courses for a set period and return later. This option works for both full-time and part-time students who need to step away for personal, health, or financial reasons.

Who can apply

You can apply if you are in good academic standing. If you have unpaid fees, hold official transcripts, or have an active student loan, you must clear those items before your leave is approved. Students on academic probation may still apply, but they will need to meet with an academic advisor first.

How to apply

You can submit your request online through myWrenford. Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to myWrenford and select the Registrar section.
  2. Open the Leave of Absence Request form.
  3. Select the term(s) you want to miss and the reason for your break.
  4. Upload any required supporting documents, such as a doctor's note or employer letter.
  5. Submit the form and wait for confirmation from the Registrar office.

Deadlines and refunds

You must submit your request at least 15 days before the start of the term you plan to miss. If you submit before the official add/drop deadline, you will receive a 100% tuition refund. After the add/drop deadline, standard withdrawal refund rules apply. Please check the Important dates page for exact deadlines each term. Ancillary and residence fees are non-refundable once a term begins.

Returning to Wrenford

When you are ready to finish your program, you must apply to return before the next term starts. There is no fee to reactivate your student record. You will receive an email with a link to the Return Request form. If your leave lasts longer than two consecutive terms, you must reapply through the provincial college application service.
